Unscrewing the clamping screw until it reaches a stop spreads the clamping ring and makes the joining gap larger. This ingenious "spreading function" simplifies the process of "threading in" the motor shaft, which makes it quick and easy to fit the motor without first having to push the coupling onto the shaft.
